Tyler Simpson, bass-baritone, has established himself as an artist that audiences love to see and hear.  A native of Sabetha, KS, Mr. Simpson is an avid interpreter of musical drama, having performed in over 50 different productions of opera, musical theater, and classical concert repertoire.  He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the Yale School of Music, where he studies with Prof. Richard Cross.  This spring at Yale Opera, Mr. Simpson appears as Figaro in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Escamillo in Peter Brook’s adaptation of Bizet’s Carmen, and The Emperor of China in Stravinsky’s Le Rossignol.  In the previous year, Mr. Simpson appeared as Sarastro and the Sprecher in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Garrido in Massenet’s La Navarraise, Adam in Haydn's The Creation with the Yale Glee Club, and the baritone soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Waterbury Symphony.  In the summers of 2007 and 2008, Mr. Simpson was an Apprentice Artist at Santa Fe Opera, where he covered the roles of Don Alfonso in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Antonio in Nozze, and Sailing Master Flint in Britten’s Billy Budd.  From 2006-2008, Mr. Simpson was also an Apprentice Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, where appeared in ten productions over four seasons during his tenure.   Mr. Simpson received his Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Kansas, where he studied with Dr. John Stephens.  Mr. Simpson sings weekly with the Congregational Church of New Canaan, CT, and continues his study at Yale School of Music through May of this year.  He makes his debut at Fort Worth Opera in the spring of 2011, appearing as Ferrando in Verdi’s Il Trovatore.
