mathSMASH creator Troy Kryzalka was born and raised in Canada. At the age of 5, Troy lost the vision of his right eye, which consequently affected his ability to read music, thus relying on mathematics to become his musical language. In 1998, Troy graduated with honors from the music program at Grande Prairie Regional College, with a specialization in Interactive Digital Design. He then followed up with his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta, and then a few years later with his Academically and Intellectually Gifted Certification. Combining his musical ability, mathematical perspective, technological creativity, and love for teaching, Troy delivers his “sound” approach to learning and understanding mathematics. Troy is currently an Instructional Facilitator for Montgomery County Schools in North Carolina, and is the owner of mathSMASH LLC, which provides instructional tools and mathSMASH Interactive Sessions for students and educators in the southeast.
