Tom Elliott is a graduate of the Curtis Institute. He is the founder and former director of the Westminster Brass. He has performed as trombonist with many ensembles including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Metropolitan Opera and the Marlboro Music Festival.
Mr. Elliott has been orchestra director at Lower Merion High School since 1989. He developed a program that introduces young children to classical music by means of a cartoon character called Maestro the Lion. This program through children’s literature and standard orchestral repertoire has influenced thousands of young students.
Last March, Tom took a sabbatical from his post at Lower Merion High School to live in Venezuela to take part in the famed El Sistema music phenomena that is impacting countries all over the world. What he came back with was a renewed excitement of what music can do in the lives of our children.
