Saxophonist, educator, and director Stanley Coleman has made a great impact on music education in the Saint Louis Metropolitan area for 30 years. He is highly regarded in the St. Louis music community for his outstanding Jazz Big Band, ensembles and professional theatre work. Born and reared in St. Louis, Coleman began his professional music career in 1973. Coming from a vibrant and musical city Coleman showed an early interest in the performing arts with R&B/funk groups Young Blood Inc. and Constellation.

 

In 1979 Coleman furthered his musical education at Webster College (St. Louis), where he earned a bachelors degree in music education and masters degree in social science MAT. Awards won include School District of University's PACEsetter Award (Positively Affecting Community Education) and Whatever It Takes – St. Louis Public Schools and Annie Malone Advocate of the Year. He presently serves on the E. Desmond Lee Fine Arts Education Collaborative Advisory Board.
