Robert Schneider is the Chairman of the Music Department and Director of Choirs at Shaker Heights High School, Shaker Heights, Ohio where more than 600 students (over 40% of the student population) are enrolled in a performing ensemble, which includes four bands, three orchestras, two jazz ensembles, and six choirs. These Shaker ensembles have made numerous concert tours to Germany, Austria, England, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, and China. Also the director of music and organist of the First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland (American Baptist), he is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College Conservatory of Music and Northwestern University and earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Actively involved in the musical life of Cleveland, he is president of both the Musart Society of the Cleveland Museum of Art and Arts Renaissance Tremont, a community organization bringing free concerts to this inner-city neighborhood of Cleveland.

 

Robert directed a group of student musicians to perform for President Obama's August 2009 visit to Shaker Heights.  The Shaker Choir also performed as part of the May 2010 reopening of the Gartner Auditorium of the Cleveland Museum of Art.  In the summer of 2009 and 2010  he returned once again to Nicaragua to assist colleague Joan Parajon with her choirs and music ministry and therapy.
