Born in Moscow, Russia, Emilia Kister began her piano studies at the Gnessin School of Music at the age of five. After immigrating to NJ with her family in 1989, she attended the Eastman School of Music for her undergraduate degree, and received her Master’s from Teachers College, Columbia University. She teaches grades K-6, and children with special needs, in Valley Stream, NY.
Ms. Kister began a music technology program in her District and currently has a piano lab in her classroom. She authored twenty lessons in "Elementary Keyboard Lab Curriculum - Teacher Guide" (SoundTree, 2009). Ms. Kister enjoys collaborative work with her colleagues, working on musicals and creating podcasts based on classroom curricula.
