Described as “stylish and articulate” in the New York Times and praised as having “undoubted talent” by the Los Angeles Times, Australian pianist David Fung is widely recognized for playing that is elegant and refined, yet deeply poetic and intensely expressive. In recent seasons, he has appeared as guest soloist with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Camerata Orchestra, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Belgium, L’Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, and has worked with conductors such as Werner Andreas Albert, Marin Alsop, Avner Biron, Joana Carneiro, Michael Hofstetter, Gérard Korsten, Uriel Segal and Zheng Xiaoying.  He has performed at the Aspen (Colorado), Atlantic (Maine), Bari (Italy), Goslar (Germany), Edinburgh (Scotland), Music at Menlo (California), Ravinia (Illinois), Sarasota (Florida) festivals, and at major international concert venues such as Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Royce Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Queen’s Hall, the Glenn Gould Studio, the Sydney Opera House, La Monnaie, the Palais des Beaux-Arts, the National Concert Hall and the Mann Auditorium.  

 

A winner of major international awards, Mr. Fung was a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in Brussels and the Arthur Rubinstein Piano International Masters Competition in Tel Aviv, where he was further distinguished by the Mozart Prize and the Chamber Music Prize.  Mr. Fung has recorded albums for Naxos, Yarlung Records, ABC Classics and Symphony Australia.  He is the Artistic Director of the Bari International Music Festival (Italy) and is an official Steinway Artist.
